Geronimo Santa Fe

Geronimo

This was one of those shoots where the smell of the dishes drove me to distraction. It’s an occupational hazard to which I’m more than willing to risk exposure…

The angle for this story on Geronimo for Local Flavor was to showcase the sculptural nuance of Chef Eric di Stefano‘s platings.

Part of the fun was getting the opportunity to explore the rambling old house that is home to Geronimo. It’s a signature Santa Fe building: you can tell by the variance in floor heights and wall textures as you walk through the labyrinth of rooms and hallways that each section was added at a different time. This is what it’s like to walk through classic adobe compounds: they’re like architectural coral. It’s the perfect setting for elegant french food.

And an insider’s secret? Sometimes there’s nothing else to do with the plates once the shots are made than to share them with the photographer. Bliss.
