Milagro Winery
I had seen the label in the “New Mexico region” section of local wine stores. I mean: how could you miss the swank pig with the ying/yang nose that dominates the design? A wine marketing expert once told me that statistically, Americans have a penchant for wines with animals on the labels.
But the Milagro Winery mascot is no marketing meme – it’s an homage to a dearly beloved (and now fondly remembered) house pet and friend. That’s typical of how Mitzy and Rick do things – with affection, humor and a hands on approach to crafting great wine. I can’t quite explain why, but meeting Rick and Mitzy, and exploring the vineyards in Corrales first hand, makes the wine taste even better.
